Experience
I would love to be a tutor because I enjoy teaching, giving back to society, to help students realize their own potential to make their stand in the world. I think that I would be suitable as a tutor as I am committed and have a lot of experience working with children as shown below. At university, I am an active member in the drama society, taking part in small productions, as well as the RAG- Raising and Giving society, which involves me taking part in charitable work. I have now, twice, been involved in helping children prepare for the Sacrament of their 1st Holy Communion, serving as a Catechist at the Sacred Heart Parish, in Kilburn, on a Sunday morning. As my duties included the ability to lead, I gained a sense of responsibility and was involved in educating the children with the essential information about their religion to enable them to make their 1st Holy Communion. The skills which I gained from this experience are leadership, organizational skills and patience. I was involved in the La Sainte Union Catholic Secondary school production of ‘Richard 111’ Directed by Simon McCarthy. I attended and took part in ‘Roundhouse’ production called ‘e-volve’, for young people. My involvement with college activities include becoming a Peer Supporter, my duties included interaction with 1st year students advising them on how to better their college life. In addition I was involved in the college’s Peer Religious Moral Education programme, for which I recently recieved a certifcate for; this programme involved discussion on various controversial topics like homosexuality. As a fundraiser idea to support the Mary’s Meals organization I came up with the idea to sell heart shaped lollypops on Valentines Day, this gave me the opportunity to test my entrepreneurial skills which proved to be successful. I proved to be capable of working under pressure and to possess great customer service skills. I have also been involved in a Taster Day for potential 1st year students, giving me the ability to put into practice my organizational and leadership skills, my duties involved informing the potential students about college life. I have also gained numerous valuable skills from the subjects i chose to study at St. Dominc’s Sixth form College. With AS Biology i was forced to work under pressure and have therefore gained the ability to cope under pressure and to work well under pressure. From choosing to study Drama and Theatre Studies i was able to enhance my confidence and was able to polish up my ability to work well with unknown people. I gained a deeper awareness and respect for others and their views from studying Religious Studies as most of the topics we covered were controversial and involved me listening to the opinion of others and trying to understand them. As well as analysing my own behaviour and coming up with ways of improving it.
