I am a professional teacher with plenty of experience in teaching A level, IAL, GCSE and IGCSE Physics. I have a Master's degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Surrey University and I gained my PGCE teaching certificate from Nottingham University. I achieved grade As in my A levels in Physics, Mathematics and Electronics.

Experience

I am a Physics teacher with a wealth of experience having taught A level Physics for the past 18 years. I have been tutoring for three years and I have found this to be very effective with students achieving grades that have exceed their targets - partly through the clear understanding that I am able to bring but, I can't take all the credit, it's essential that the student engages well and works hard so that the understanding is consolidated through practice which I’ll provide and review. I tutor online as I have found this to be enormously effective. Initially some are a little nervous about this approach but they soon appreciate the advantages. We communicate through Skype and generate a set of notes together on bitpaper and this is easy to engage with as I'll send you a drawing tablet (free). I have access to all the resources that I need to share (diagrams, past questions etc.) and I always provide follow up consolidation work (okay - so it's homework!) and here's another great advantage of online tutoring - if you're struggling with some aspect of it then it's easy to grab five minutes online to clear up any misconception so that you don't waste your time getting confused and frustrated. Also I'm never late as I'm never stuck in traffic and you don't even have to offer me a cup of tea! I used to tutor face-to-face but my students agree that the online experience is much better. During the tutorial we'll pack in a whole hour and I'm happy for you to identify the areas you'd like to focus on then I can take a lead. Perhaps it works well to keep pace with the learning at school or maybe there are areas which you haven't grasped well that need reviewing. I'll rapidly work through the material to identify the parts which need work then we'll focus on these to ensure that they are mastered.

Hobbies

Cycling keeps me fit and playing guitar keeps me busy. I'm told those things go well with Physics as Einstein was said to have thought of relativity whilst riding a bike and he played the violin!
